Your initial visit at Seagrass Integrative Acupuncture generally lasts 75–90 minutes. During this time, your practitioner will take a detailed health history, review any paperwork or imaging you’ve provided, and perform a physical exam that may include unique diagnostic tools such as channel palpation, pulse and tongue evaluation. This thorough process allows us to understand your whole health picture and create a personalized treatment plan that outlines your underlying imbalances, timeline of care, and recommended therapies.
✨ Before You Arrive
- Paperwork: You’ll receive a secure link by email or text for intake forms, which include your health history, medications, and current concerns. Please complete these at least one day prior to your appointment so your practitioner can review them.
- Lab Work & Imaging: If you have recent labs or imaging relevant to your health concerns, you may email them to us in advance within the health portal or bring copies to your visit.
- Bring a Covering: Please bring a large towel or sheet to use on the massage table during treatment.
- ID & Essentials: Bring a form of identification and any additional paperwork that may support your care.
✨ Day of Your Visit
- Eat Lightly: Have a meal or snack before your appointment; this helps prevent lightheadedness and supports a smoother treatment.
- Avoid Substances: Please refrain from alcohol or recreational drugs on the day of treatment, as they can alter diagnosis and effectiveness.
- Wear Comfortable Clothing: Loose-fitting clothes are best, allowing easy access to arms, legs, and shoulders. If that’s not possible, we can provide a gown or sheet for coverage.
- Arrive on Time: Each session builds on the last, and timely arrival ensures you receive the full benefit of your treatment.
✨ During Your Treatment
Your practitioner will select acupuncture points specific to your concerns. Fine, sterile needles are gently inserted, and you’ll rest comfortably for 20–30 minutes while your body responds. Depending on your needs, additional therapies such as cupping, Gua-sha or electro-acupuncture may be included. Herbal remedies may also be recommended as part of your care plan.
✨ After Your Visit
Plan to take it easy following treatment. Many patients feel deeply relaxed, and results are often best when you allow your body to rest. Drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity, and follow any recommendations from your treatment plan. Your active participation—through lifestyle choices, hydration, rest, and consistency with appointments—plays a key role in your healing journey.
At Seagrass, we see your first visit as the beginning of a partnership in health, one that helps you root, flow, and flourish in every stage of life.
